Inked by Susan Delivers Better, Beautiful, Bolder Brows

eyebrows

For as long as I can remember, my morning routine included one crucial step: filling in my eyebrows. Born with two noticeable gaps in both brows, I always had to draw them in just right—hoping they’d stay put through the day. It became second nature, but never something I truly enjoyed. That changed when I went to Inked by Susan.

Susan isn’t just a brow specialist—she’s an artist. With a precise eye for balance and shape, she knew exactly how to frame my face and create a natural, effortless look. Now, I wake up with full, beautifully defined brows and one less thing to worry about. It’s a subtle change that’s made a major difference.

For those thinking about getting a brow upgrade, Susan the answer to your brow beauty renovation. She talks you through the process and sends you home with a great care kit + an informational illustrated “stages of healing” card, which is so helpful!

From Los Angeles, she trained at Microblading LA in Woodland Hills and founded Inked by Susan in July of 2023.

What is the downtime after the procedure?
The downtime for permanent makeup on brows is typically 10–14 days, giving the skin time to heal and the pigment to settle.

How long does it last?
Results typically last between 1 to 3 years. Longevity depends on factors like skin type, lifestyle, aftercare, and the technique used.

What inspired you to become a brow shaping artist?
I’ve always been inspired by the power of beauty and how small enhancements can make a big impact on someone’s confidence. Brows frame the face, and I love the artistry involved in creating the perfect shape to complement each person’s unique features. Seeing how a well-crafted brow can boost self-esteem and transform a look motivated me to pursue permanent makeup. It’s more than just a skill for me—it’s a way to help people feel their best every day.

With Cara Delevingne and Lily Collins bringing the thick eyebrow trend back, how have brow trends changed in the past five years?
Cara Delevingne and Lily Collins have played a major role in bringing back the thick, natural brow, shifting beauty standards away from overly sculpted, ultra-thin styles. Their full, well-groomed brows inspired a movement toward embracing natural shapes and individual features.

Over the past five years, brow trends have evolved significantly. Feathered and laminated brows became popular, creating a brushed-up, fluffy look. The microblading craze gave way to softer, more natural tattooing techniques like microshading. Most recently, we’re seeing a rise in the effortless, “undone” brow—a focus on enhancing natural texture over heavy sculpting. Trends are now more inclusive and customizable, allowing for personalization based on face shape and personal style.

Once you sit in Susan’s comfy chair, it takes about two hours from start to finish; between the mapping, brow shaping and tattoo time. The healing process is all illustrated on Susan’s informational card. Remember not to get your brows wet for the first several days and, if they get dry, she gives you a bottle of jojoba oil!
