Honored with Outstanding Achievement in Hairstyling, Sanna Seppänen was celebrated at the 10th Hollywood Beauty Awards for her exceptional work in film and television. Known for her artistry on both sides of the Atlantic, Sanna’s creations have shaped iconic looks across genres.
Actress Caitlin O’Connor, who worked with Sanna on Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty took the stage to recognize Sanna’s creative contributions to the industry presented her with this lifetime achievement.
The black-tie HBA dinner ceremony benefitted Helen Woodward Animal Center. The HBAs recognize talent in hair, makeup, photography and styling for Film, TV, Music, the red carpet and editorial, as well as special honorees.
A leading expert in wig design, Sanna followed in the footsteps of her late mother, becoming a second-generation hairstylist.
Born in Finland and raised in Canada, she established herself in Vancouver’s film and TV industry where she led hair departments on films such as Warcraft: The Beginning and Big Eyes.
Her collaboration with producer Noah Hawley began with Legion and continued through Fargo and Alien: Earth. She reimagined the late ’70s and early ’80s for Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty and created dystopian designs in See with director Francis Lawrence.
In 2024, Sanna’s prowess of historical hairstyling earned her a Primetime Emmy for Shōgun. Designing intricate 16th-century looks, she introduced innovative wig blender pieces and silk-based bald caps, merging traditional Japanese techniques with modern advancements.
From Pachinko to Fifty Shades of Grey, Okja to Elysium, she has styled for some of Hollywood’s most recognized productions. Her work extends beyond film, serving as a personal hairstylist to Emily Blunt, Courtney Love, Sarah Shahi, and Jason Momoa.
Now operating her hair extension company, Sanna continues to push creative boundaries, innovating the hair industry.
