Debi Young’s Makeup Career to be Honored at Hollywood Beauty Awards

Today, the annual Hollywood Beauty Awards (HBAs) announced that 4x Emmy-nominee Debi Young will be honored with Outstanding Achievement in Makeup at the 10th ceremony.

The HBAs will celebrate a decade of honoring the architects of beauty at the 10th HBAs on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Avalon Hollywood. 

The HBAs recognize talent in hair, makeup, photography and styling for Film, TV, Music, the red carpet and editorial, as well as special honorees. 

Bernadine M. Anderson, Carol Rasheed, Sergio Lopez-Rivera and more are among the former HBA Makeup honorees. 

Debi Young’s groundbreaking career in makeup artistry has been defined by her exceptional achievements and enduring legacy in the industry. Her work has earned her four Emmy nominations, beginning with her role as lead makeup artist for HBO’s Bessie, followed by collaborations with Mary J. Blige on The Wiz Live! and Mahershala Ali on True Detective. She received her fourth Emmy nod for Mare of Easttown.

Debi’s role as Department Head for HBO’s The Wire marked a pivotal moment, propelling her into a series of groundbreaking projects. A defining moment in Debi’s career came with her historic achievement on We Own This City, where she earned the first-ever NAACP Image Award for makeup. Additionally, her work on Shirley with Regina King earned her a second NAACP nomination.

Over her illustrious career, Debi has been a key player in over 50 productions. She began her journey with Meteor Man, followed by NBC’s Homicide: Life on the Streets, Serial Mom, Music of the Heart, and The Replacements.

Her recent work includes collaborations with Mahershala Ali on Swan Song and Leave the World Behind, and her latest project, Pharrell Williams’ highly anticipated film Golden, set to release this year.

Young will accept Outstanding Achievement in Makeup at the black-tie ceremony on Sunday, April 6, 2025 benefitting Helen Woodward Animal Center

HBAs previously announced Academy Award winner Janty Yates as the 2025 Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design honoree, Davis Factor for Outstanding Achievement in Photography and Mike Marino for Outstanding Achievement in SFX Makeup. 

Christopher Guy is the official designer of the HBAs Holly statuette.
