Janty Yates To Be Honored At 10th Hollywood Beauty Awards For Costume Design

The annual Hollywood Beauty Awards (HBAs), founded by Michele Elyzabeth, will celebrate a decade of honoring the architects of beauty at the 10th HBAs on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Avalon Hollywood.

The HBAs recognize talent in hair, makeup, photography and styling for Film, TV, Music, the red carpet and editorial, as well as special honorees. 

Today, the HBAs announced that Academy Award-winning costume designer Janty Yates will be honored with Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design at the 10th ceremony. 

Bob Mackie, Mark Bridges and Ruth Carter are among the past HBA Costume Design honorees. 

Janty Yates’ latest project is Gladiator II, which just earned her another Oscar nomination. The film marked her 18th collaboration with Sir Ridley Scott. Yates worked alongside David Crossman on the film, earning a Critics Choice Award nomination for Best Costume Design and a Costume Designers Guild Award nomination for Excellence in a Period Film. The film is also featured on the BAFTA longlist for Costume Design and was honored by the National Board of Review as one of the year’s Top Films.

Yates first collaborated with Scott on Gladiator (2000), for which she won an Academy Award. Her work also garnered Satellite and AFI Awards, as well as BAFTA and Saturn Award nominations. Since then, her partnership with Scott has spanned iconic films such as Hannibal, American Gangster, Robin Hood, Prometheus, Exodus: Gods and Kings, The Martian, Alien: Covenant, All the Money in the World, The Last Duel, Raised by Wolves for HBO, and Napoleon.

Yates and Crossman also received widespread acclaim for Napoleon, with nominations for an Academy Award, BAFTA, Critics Choice, CDG, and several Film Critics Society awards. Yates’s work on House of Gucci earned her Critics Choice and CDG nominations and the Hollywood Film Critics Society Award for Best Costume Design.

Yates will accept Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design at the black-tie ceremony on Sunday, April 6, 2025 benefitting Helen Woodward Animal Center

Additional Honorees will be announced shortly. Nominee voting will open to the public on Monday, February 10th until Monday, March 3rd, 2025. 

Christopher Guy is the official designer of the HBAs Holly statuette. 

The HBAs was established in 2014 for the purposes of recognizing excellence in beauty; celebrating the work of celebrity makeup artists, hair stylists, stylists, photographers and more who create the looks and set the trends with their creations for the red carpet, editorial, campaigns; as well as for Film, TV and Music. The HBAs special honoree categories include: The International Beauty Award, Brand of the Year, The Timeless Beauty Award, The Gentleman’s Award and Fragrance of the Year. The board is comprised of past honorees, winners, and professionals from the beauty industry; encompassing Journalists, Publicists and Agents.

Winners are voted on by the public and the HBA board.
