Liam Payne, a member of the beloved boy-band “One Direction,” has died at the age of 31. According to reports and state police, Payne died after falling from the third floor of his hotel room in Argentina.
Alberto Crescenti, the director of SAME, Buenos Aires Emergency Medical Services told ABC News that emergency services were called Wednesday evening due to a man acting erratically and perhaps under the influence.
Crescenti told local Argentinian media outlet TN that Payne fell 13 to 14 meters, the equivalent of about 42 to 45 feet, describing the injuries as “very serious” and “incompatible with life.”
Payne was a part of One Direction, the English-Irish pop boy band which formed in London in 2010. He joined after appearing on “The X-Factor.” Known as “1D,” the group included Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik.
They became one of the best-selling boy groups of all time before going on an indefinite hiatus in 2016.
Payne was born in Wolverhampton, West Midland, England, UK to, parents, Geoff and Karen Payne.
