This McDonald’s Item Is the Unhealthiest of All Fast Food

During summer road trips and weekend outings, we’re all bound to opt for a drive-thru fast food burger. A new study has revealed the unhealthiest fast food menu items available across America.

Price tracking website Pricelisto analyzed the nutritional value of more than 1,000 fast food menu items from five of the most popular fast-food restaurants in America; McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger King, Taco Bell, and KFC.

They scored each fast-food item out of 100 based on the number of calories, grams of fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium, carbohydrates and sugars as a percentage of the recommended daily intake for an adult male, as per US Dietary Guidelines.

In first place is the Big Breakfast with Hotcakes (Large Biscuit) from McDonald’s, which scored by far the highest of any menu item on the list, at 70.08 out of 100. This particular menu item contained 58% of your recommended calorie intake (1,150 calories), 100% of your saturated fat intake (20 g), 192% of your cholesterol intake (575 mg), and 98% of your recommended sodium intake (2.26 g), as per the US dietary guidelines.

McDonald’s Big Breakfast with Hotcakes (Regular size biscuit), secured second place scoring 66.43 out of 100. Similarly, this menu item was found to contain 72% of your daily fat intake (56 g), 95% of your saturated fat intake (19 g), 192% of your total cholesterol (575 mg), and 93% of the recommended sodium intake (2.15 g) for an adult male.

The Cheddar Bacon King from Burger King takes the third spot on the list, scoring 65.96 out of 100. This burger was found to contain the highest amount of total fats (84 g) and saturated fats (33 g) of any menu item in the top ten – equivalent to a staggering 108% and 165% of your recommended daily intake, respectively.

Fourth place goes to the Bacon King Sandwich from Burger King, scoring 64.57 out of 100. This menu item was found to contain 58% of your recommended calorific intake (1,150 calories), 101% of your daily fats (60 g), 155% of your daily saturated fats (33 g), and 93% of your recommended sodium intake (2.15 g).

Fifth place on the list is the Triple Whopper Sandwich with Cheese from Burger King, scoring 64.26 out of 100. According to the government’s nutritional guidelines, this menu item contains 61% of the recommended daily calories (1,220 calories), 105% your total fats (82 g), 160% of your saturated fats (32 g), 93% of your cholesterol intake (280 mg), 64% of your sodium intake (1.47 g).

The Double Stacker King from Burger King lands in sixth place, scoring 57.25 out of 100. This menu item includes 53% of the daily recommended calories (1,050 calories), 87% of total fats (48 g), 140% of saturated fats (28 g), 78% of cholesterol (235 mg), and 81% of sodium (1.87 g). Additionally, it has 18% of the daily carbohydrates (49 g) and 22% of the daily sugar intake (11 g).

In seventh place is Dave’s Triple from Wendy’s, scoring 57.15 out of 100. This indulgent burger provides 55% of the recommended daily calories (1,090 calories), 92% of total fats (72 g), a concerning 150% of saturated fats (30 g), 87% of cholesterol (360 mg), and 72% of sodium (1.65 g).

The Triple Whopper Sandwich from Burger King takes the eighth spot, scoring 55.46 out of 100. This massive sandwich includes 57% of the recommended daily calorie intake (1,130 calories), 96% of total fats (75 g), 140% of saturated fats (31 g), 85% of cholesterol (255 mg), and 49% of sodium (1.12 g).

Ninth place goes to the BK Ultimate Breakfast Platter from Burger King, scoring 53.81 out of 100. This breakfast platter contains 47% of the recommended daily calories (930 calories), 56% of total fats (44 g), 55% of saturated fats (11 g), and 130% of your daily cholesterol (390 mg). Additionally, it provides 40% of the daily carbohydrates (110 g) and 80% of the daily sugar recommendation (40 g).

Rounding out the list in tenth place is the Two Sausage Biscuits from Wendy’s. Despite being a relatively small menu item, it still scores 53.39 out of 100. This menu item includes 48% of the recommended daily calories (960 calories), 83% of total fats (65 g), 155% of saturated fats (31 g), 32% of cholesterol (95 mg), and 88% of sodium (2.02 g). It also contains 25% of the daily carbohydrates (70 g) and 20% of the daily sugar intake (10 g).

Interestingly, Burger King dominates the top ten, featuring six items, with McDonald’s and Wendy’s each featuring two items.

Both Taco Bell and KFC failed to break into the top ten. Taco Bell’s first entry in the list came in at 28th, with its 12 Pack of Cinnabon Delights scoring 35.76 out of 100 – notably containing 118% of the recommended daily sugar intake (59 g).

KFC’s first item on the list is in 11th place, with its Family Size Potato Salad scoring 49.84 out of 100. While it is intended for sharing, if you were to eat this alone, you would be consuming 126% of your recommended daily total fats (98 g).
