June 21st is International Yoga Day!
The word ‘Yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘Yuj’, meaning ‘to join’ or ‘to yoke’ or ‘to unite’. As per Yogic scriptures the practice of Yoga leads to the union of individual consciousness with that of the Universal Consciousness, indicating a perfect harmony between the mind and body, Man & Nature.
Yoga studios are plentiful in Los Angeles. Do they outnumber the amount of Starbucks? Possibly. Here are some of our favorite Yoga Studios in Los Angeles and our local Los Feliz area.
Hot yoga is a special kind of practice. Modo Yoga is a hot yoga studio that offers a variety of classes that are accessible to all students in Los Angeles. They have locations off La Brea Ave. and in Echo Park. Be prepared for a good sweat.

Located in a lovely craftsman style property, Yoga Vibe opened its doors in January 2012.
Owners Larry and Amy Santiago set out to create a space with a great vibe – a neighborhood vibe, a community vibe – where yoga is fun, playful, and full of energy. Beginners and seasoned yogis alike are welcome in a warm and friendly environment.

They have locations in West Hollywood and Silverlake (just south of Los Feliz area), as well as on the East Coast. Try their Power Yoga, We Flow Hard Vinyasa or take a cold plunge after some breathwork.
A different practice than Yoga, but if it’s Pilates you’re looking for…. Los Feliz Pilates is contemporary practice; both methodical and creative, deliberate and challenging. They build strength through athletic sequencing and well-balanced class design. Their class sizes are small and intimate, allowing for individual attention to form and alignment. Also check out their private sessions.
