The rebranding move from HBO Max to simply ‘Max’ is causing some confusion. Here is what you need to know if you’re an HBO Max subscriber.
- Your billing and sign-in info for Max is the same as your HBO Max account.
- Depending on your devices, one of two things will happen: HBO Max will automatically update to Max.
- Or, when you open HBO Max, you’ll be prompted to download the Max app.
- Your profiles, watch history, and My List will be saved on Max, so you can pick up where you left off.
They’re calling Max the enhanced streaming service from Warner Bros. Discovery. The streaming platform is launching with 35,000 hours of content, more than twice that of HBO Max for the same price.
HBO, Max Originals, WB Movies, the DC Universe, food, home, and documentaries are under the Max platform.

Users can continue to represent their fandom by choosing characters from classics like Game of Thrones, The Big Bang Theory, The Sopranos, Friends, and favorites such as House of the Dragon, Insecure, Succession, Hacks, The West Wing, and more.
The collection also boasts approximately 100 new avatars, adding characters like Harry, Hermione, Ron, Dobby, Voldemort, Professor McGonagall, and Hagrid from Harry Potter; Joel, Ellie and a Clicker from The Last of Us, etc.
On May 23, a large portion of HBO Max subscribers will have their apps automatically updated to Max, while others will be prompted to download the updated Max app. Customers can also pre-register for Max on the Google Play Store or pre-order on the Apple App Store now.
