Drakkar Noir was created in 1982 by perfumer Pierre Wargnye for Guy Laroche under the l’Oreal group. The original Drakkar first launched in 1972.
The name Drakkar is derived from the word drekar, which is a type of Viking longship invoking the virile charm associated with the Viking warriors.
