Will ArcLight Cinemas Have A Comeback?

arclight, cineramadome, theater

In April of 2021, the famous ArcLight theater in the heart of Hollywood permanently closed.

This was a true sign of the times. The COVID-19 pandemic had hit all industries and severely impacted the movie-going experience. The ArcLight owner Pacific Theatres declared bankruptcy. Many wondered if we would ever go back to the movie theaters.

The majority of Americans were relying on Netflix and other streaming platforms to see the latest blockbuster.

Today, the studios are back in action. Marvel films are back breaking box-office records and popcorn is popping again.

Now, the beloved ArcLight Cinemas may see a resurgence. According to reports and a public record, a  liquor license  was filed and obtained for a business titled “Cinerama” at that Arclight address: 6360 W SUNSET BLVD.

Variety first reported the news about the possibility of a movie theater comeback. According to Variety, the new venue would go by “Cinerama Hollywood.” The application also includes schematics showing the reopening of the famous dome and the 14 screens inside.

The Cinerama Dome, which was built in 1963 is considered a Los Angeles landmark. On behalf of all Angelenos, we hope to see it back in action soon.
