Former NASA scientist and Theradome founder, Tamim Hamid is raising funds and awareness for the PBA COVID-19 Relief Fund created by the Professional Beauty Association.
While working as a biomedical engineer at Kennedy Space Center, Tamim designed laser technologies for the Space Shuttle Program and astronauts. Eventually, he discovered a new laser, which led to the creation of the award-winning Theradome hair regrowth helmet. Combing beauty care and science, the helmet uses Laser Phototherapy (LPT), the most powerful and effective treatment to combat hair loss.
Tamim will donate a portion of Theradome proceeds to the PBA COVID-19 Relief Fund and hopes that fellow business owners in the industry will join along in his efforts.
“It is vital that the industry supports one another during this time. Hairstylists and beauty professionals often go unnoticed, but it is our goal to unite in order to help, bring aid, and raise spirits until they can go back to work,” said Tamim Hamid.
The Professional Beauty Association is the largest and most inclusive membership association representing the professional beauty industry. They started the PBA COVID-19 Relief Fund to help support the licensed beauty professionals who have not been able to work and/or are experiencing financial hardships due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
“We are well on our way to raising our goal of $2.5 million dollars for the PBA COVID-19 Relief Fund, thanks to the help of brands like Theradome, who truly showcase how supportive and connected this incredible industry is,” shares PBA’s Executive Director Steve Sleeper.
“The more funds we can raise together, the more we can help the stylists, barbers, and other beauty professionals who need it most during this challenging time.”
The fund is administered by the PBA Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization, and all donations are tax-deductible. With a goal to raise over $2.5 million dollars, PBA is turning to the professional beauty community and beyond to help support this industry in need. PBA is aiming to raise funds as quickly as possible to help provide the needed relief to these individuals, as many states have a government-directed salon, barbershop, spas, and nail salon closures.
Funds distributed are intended to be used as emergency cash for short-term immediate needs such as food, bills, and supplies. The PBA is calling on salon industry suppliers, consumers, and the industry itself to participate in the tax-deductible fundraising efforts for this fund.
“Donating to the PBA COVID-19 Relief Fund is a powerful and direct way for clients to support their favorite hairdresser; even donations of $1 or $5 can make a difference,” shares PBA’s executive director Steve Sleeper.
