Last month, multi-platinum selling artist and global superstar, Khalid, teamed up with his mother, Linda Wolfe, to proudly launch The Great Khalid Foundation in El Paso, TX. With plans to expand nationally, The Foundation is dedicated to creating an atmosphere of support and freedom for kids to dream BIG! The Great Khalid Foundation’s Performing Arts Scholarship Program presented three $10,000 scholarships to local El Paso high school seniors who are pursuing a performing arts degree. The three winners are – Haile Chavira, Celeste Barron and Steven Phan.
The Foundation’s goal is to invest in the community’s children and their future. Partnering with music education programs in schools, scholarship awards for high school seniors, community partnerships and gift giveaways to celebrate important milestones in a child’s life like Christmas, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day. It’s a lifelong dream for Khalid to create more opportunities for students to study performing arts and the Scholarship Program supports that vision.
“I created a foundation that supports music & schools in underserved communities. It starts in El Paso and my goal is to provide resources and help bridge education and prominent music programs in the city.” said Khalid
“We are excited that our first initiative as a formal organization is providing educational support for talented students in our community that dream of sharing their gifts with the world,” said Executive Director Linda Wolfe, “it’s an honor to be a part of their journey as artists.”
