Actress Valerie Harper, best known for "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and "Rhoda" has passed away at the age of 80 following a years-long battle with cancer. Valerie was diagnosed with leptomeningeal carcinomatosis back in 2013.
Valerie's family confirmed the news to KABC-TV, and her husband Tony Cacciotti said on Twitter: "She will never, ever be forgotten. Rest In Peace, mia Valeria."
She began her career as a dancer on Broadway, making her debut in the musical Take Me Along in 1959. She received three Primetime Emmy Awards for "Mary Tyler Moore" and one for Outstanding Lead Actress for "Rhoda."
Her film appearances include roles in "Freebie and the Bean" and "Chapter Two," both of which garnered her Golden Globe Award nominations.
In 2010, she was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for her performance as Tallulah Bankhead in the play Looped.
The beloved actress had just celebrated her 80th birthday on August 22nd.
