HollyShorts To Premiere Jessie Bradford & Lisa Edelstein’s Short Films

HBO’s Game of Thrones will have a big star-studded night at HollyShorts opening night on Thursday August 9 at the TCL Chinese Theater. English actress Nathalie Emmanuel known for her role as Missandei in Game of Thrones is set to open the Oscar Qualifying 14th Annual HollyShorts Film Festival with her short film RUN. Emmanuel produced and stars in the epic sci fi short Directed by Alex Lanipekun. Joining Emmanuel on opening night will be Mark Lobatto’s short STEALING SILVER which stars Maisie Williams from Game of Thrones. Williams played Arya Stark on the show.

HollyShorts opening night will also feature the following short films:

  • Lisa Edelstein’s (The Girlfriend's Guide) short film UNZIPPING.
  • Jesse Bradford’s (Shooter) short film THE DAY OF MATTHEW MONTGOMERY.
  • Jocelyn Stamat’s short film LABORATORY CONDITIONS starring Marisa Tomei, Minnie Driver, and Paulo Constanzo.
  • Carlson Young’s (MTV’s Scream) short THE BLAZING WORLD.
  • JAMESON, a short film written by John Humber. His short script won the HollyShorts Short Film Screening writing Competition last year and as part of the festival’s Seattle Lab, the short  was greenlit, shot and produced by HollyShorts Studios, Abundant Productions, RenCon and Seattle Film Summit. This is the world premiere.

Ben Lyons Host of #TheWarmup on TNT and ESPN LA returns as the host HollyShorts opening night.

HollyShorts takes place August 9-18, 2018 at the TCL Chinese Theater, Harmony Gold Theater and other locations in Hollywood. Nearly 400 short films will compete for the festival’s top prizes. Last year HollyShorts finalists included 3 out of the 5 Live Action Oscar nominees and the winning short Silent Child from Rachel Shenton and Chris Overton. This year, HollyShorts received an all-time record 5,000 submissions from over 80 countries. The competition will feature Live Action, Animation and Documentary Shorts as well as web series, student shorts, music videos, TV pilots, and VR. The festival also features a screenplay competition where the winning short gets greenlit, shot and shown at next year’s festival courtesy of Seattle Film Summit.
