Country Music Hall of Famer Don Williams has passed away at the age of 78. According to a press release from the singer's PR team, Williams died "after a short illness."
Williams rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s and was the first country music artist to make a concept music video.
Throughout his career, he became known as "the Gentle Giant" because of his mellow voice and 6-foot, 1-inch stature.
His hits included: "Tulsa Time," "I Believe in You" and "It Must Be Love," and "Good Ole Boys Like Me."
Williams retired in 2016.
"Gentle Giants," a tribute album featuring Chris and Morgan Stapleton, Alison Krauss, Dierks Bentley and more singing Williams' songs, was released.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
