New Music Friday: ‘Chris Cornell,’ ‘Jaded’ & ‘Pentatonix’

"Promise" is the latest solo hit from multi-time Grammy winner Chris Cornell. The former Soundgarden frontman wrote and recorded the song for the upcoming film Promise, starring Christian Bale and Oscar Isaac. It is set for an April 21 theatrical release.

Jaded's newest single "In the Morning" is a change of pace from Cornell. It's the type of headbanging, warm and fuzzy single we've grown accustomed to from the British three-piece band, and worth a listen. Check it out.

With their anticpated new studio album PTX Vol. IV coming out April 7, Pentatonix has released the music video for their group arrangement of John Lennon's "Imagine." Their album will also include a rendition of "Jolene" with Dolly Parton.

Fans who preorder the album will be able to download both "Imagine" and "Jolene" prior to its official release.

"Hoping" is the newest single from X Ambassadors, and their latest philanthropic effort. All digital sales of the song will be donated to the ACLU for a six month period. This follows in the food steps of the band's recent Los Angeles concert to benefit Planned Parenthood.

"'Hoping' is a song for everyone currently living in fear," says X Ambassadors lead singer Sam Harris. "We proudly support the efforts of the ACLU, an organization which combats hatred and prejudice in this country."

The song itself is a powerful ballad and well-worth multiple plays.

Another change in tempo! Trophy Eyes caps off this week's eclectic edition of New Music Friday. "Counting Sheep" comes off their recent album Chemical Miracle, released in October of 2016.
