An NFL Team Coming To Los Angeles? Perhaps Not Anymore

NFL Stadium 1

Two weeks ago, the idea of an NFL team coming to Los Angeles appeared to be more promising than it looks like today. The main investor in backing a football team in the City of Angels, billionaire Philip Anschutz is now... backing down.

In a statement, Anschutz company announced that they will no longer pursue a team or stadium, which they had previously proposed to be built in downtown Los Angeles.

"We are no longer in discussion with the NFL or any NFL team,'' Ted Fikre, vice chairman of Anschutz's company, AEG, said in a statement. "Our focus is on the continued development of the L.A. LIVE district and assisting the City of Los Angeles with development of its Convention Center and the downtown core.

They added, "We have advised the city that we will not seek a further extension of the April 17 deadline for our Convention Center/stadium deal with the City."

If an NFL team were to come to the SoCal city, it would be the first time since 1994.
