Just last week, on August 12th, former president Jimmy Carter announced that he will undergo treatment for cancer. On Thursday, Carter made a more detailed announcement to the press. The cancer has now spread to parts of his brain and he will now receive radiation.
In the initial statement, Carter said, “Recent liver surgery revealed that I have cancer that now is in other parts of my body. I will be rearranging my schedule as necessary so I can undergo treatment by physicians at Emory Healthcare.”
The examinations now reveal “four spots of melanoma on my brain,” Carter said in a news conference in Atlanta.
said Thursday he will fight the cancer that has spread to parts of his brain and will receive his first radiation treatment later in the day.
He added, “It’s in the hands God, whom I worship, and I’ll be prepared for anything that comes. I’m ready for anything and looking forward to a new adventure.”
