Air + Style, the super sports event that has taken over Munich, Beijing and more has touched down in Los Angeles, California. The iconic snowboarding, skiing and music event has made its home at the Rose Bowl this weekend on February 21st and 22nd.
In the shadow of the 16-story high, 450-foot long ramp and 70-foot jump for the snowboarding and skiing competitions, live music will add a high-octane soundtrack to the snow sport activities.18 bands over three stages will perform throughout the weekend. Kendrick Lamar, Diplo, Phantogram, The Black Lips, Portugal. The Man and Metz will perform on Saturday, February 21. On Sunday, February 22, fans will enjoy performances from Steve Aoki, The Flaming Lips, Sleigh Bells, Cults, Edwards Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Bad Things and Surfer Blood.
16 snowboarders and 16 skiers, representing the best in the world, will compete at the Rose Bowl. The Big Air snowboarding competition will take place over five and a half hours on Saturday and for the first time in event history Big Air skiing has been added and will take place on Sunday, for the same amount of time. The finals will close each day.
The 2015 Air + Style: LA competing athletes include Sage Kotsenburg, 2014 Olympic gold medalist in snowboard slopestyle, Mark McMorris, 2014 Olympic bronze medalist in snowboard slopestyle, Bobby Brown, four-time Winter X Games ski slopestyle gold medalist as well as Joss Christensen, 2014 Olympic gold medalist in ski slopestyle. Air + Style: Los Angeles is a family friendly event featuring snowboarding and skiing big air competitions and exhibitions, 18 live musical performances over three stages, pro skateboarding mini ramp demos from 12 professional skateboarders such as Ishod Wair, Greyson Fletcher and Curren Caples. The event will also offer a Kidz Camp, designated kid friendly area, featuring a Learn To Ride Experience, bubble rollers, a zipline, interactive areas and a snow play zone. There will also be an onsite art gallery showcasing art of all mediums from local area artists. In addition, local artists will be live painting Shaun White’s own mini ramp and pieces of the ramp will be auctioned off for charity at the end of the weekend.
