Since the news, Janay Rice has sat down for her first interview since the incident. Rice took to social media several times after the video was released to defend herself and her family. In the interview with TODAY’s Matt Lauer, Rice sits down with her mother to answer questions regarding the controversy that made her a face of domestic violence. The interviews with both Janay Rice and Ray Rice will air Monday and Tuesday

In an emotional interview, Rice says that her husband was not abusive before or after the incident. She expressed the damage that the media and public did to her family and how she was disappointed int he Ravens not supporting her husband.

After the video was released, Janay wrote in an Instagram post, “To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his ass off for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific. THIS IS OUR LIFE! What don’t you all get. If your intentions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you’ve succeeded on so many levels. Just know we will continue to grow & show the world what real love is! Ravensnation we love you!”
