Since the tragic ferry sinking in South Korea on April 16th, families of the victims have received little information regarding the cause. This week investigators revealed that they believe the event which killed more than 260 people was causes in part by excessive cargo and a failure to tie the cargo down properly. This was announced by the joint police and prosecuting team investigating the disaster.
More than 300 of the 467 passengers and crew on board were high school students on a field trip. According to reports, four employees of the ferry’s owner, Cheonghaejin Marine Co. have been indicted.
Authorities said that the cargo’s weight was more than double the ship’s limit.
