Ice-T speaks out for Veterans Matter and aiding homeless veterans
Memorial Day is a day to remember those men and women who have died serving their country. While many people visit cemeteries and memorials in their memory, others celebrate the service of all U.S. veterans—including those who live on and who continue to bear the burden of their sacrifice every day.
As a tribute to fellow Americans killed in war, Memorial Day is also an opportunity for future generations to pay tribute to veterans who made it home by helping them face the challenges they found both on and off the battlefield. Flags display patriotism and support on this holiday, and yet Americans can help veterans in other ways, as well.
Today many foundations, such as the Military Order of the Purple Heart Service Foundation and stars remember those who have served our country. Over a dozen celebrities and Cumulus Media have come together to help the innovative,Veterans Matter program kick off a campaign on Memorial Day to help house as many of the 57,000 homeless veterans as possible, as soon as possible.
“Thousands of veterans are homeless and living on the streets of our nation tonight. Streets where they are being beaten, robbed, even killed. Let’s take care of our own,” says Ice-T of the Veterans Matter campaign to house veterans. Supporting stars include: Darius Rucker, Darryl Worley, Dusty Hill, Heart and more.
Each has voiced public services announcements now airing on Cumulus Media properties nationwide urging all Americans to help our nation’s homeless veterans get housed.
