“The plane vanished in thin air,’’ said Malaysia’s acting transportation minister, Hishamuddin Hussein about Flight 370 at the press conference late Thursday in Kuala Lumpur. Hussein continued, “We have looked at every lead and in most cases, I believe all the case we pursued, we have not found anything positive.”

Despite media reports that ‘government personnel were looking into the possibility that the plane was going to be used later on for another purpose,’ Malaysian officials denied the story. Officials said that the last engine data were transmitted at 1:07 a.m., about 20 minutes before the aircraft disappeared from civilian radar screens.

So six days after Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 went missing on route to Beijing, what have they found? Not much. On Wednesday, satellite surveillance showed images of possible debris in the ocean. After searching the site, nothing was found. Frustration is growing among the families of the 239 passengers, as well as with the Chinese government. The majority of the passengers are Chinese nationals, therefore the government is displeased with the lack of progress in the search.

As the LA Times reported, “All the countries involved must demand that the Malaysians disclose all the information they have. The information they’ve released so far is implausible. It has caused a lot of confusion and has led to people looking in the wrong place,’’ complained Hu Hongjun, a professor of civil aviation at the University of Tianjin.

With little information, conspiracy theories are surfacing. UFO’s, aliens, the Illuminati and even Edward Snowden, according to Boston.com.

Families told reporters they are still able to call the cell phones of their missing relatives and that they can see their instant messagin service accounts active online. With more theories than facts and evidence, the public and media grow more confused.
