23 year-old Jamie Anderson of team USA is riding high after winning the gold medal in the first-ever women’s slopestyle event at the Sochi Winter Olympics. In her second run, Anderson scored an impressive 92.25. Finland’s Enni Rukajarvi took silver and Great Britain’s Jenny Jones won bronze.
“It feels amazing. There was so much anticipation and pressure leading up to this event for all of us,” Anderson said. “To have that moment come so quick and know this is your moment to shine and be your best and show the world what a fun sport snowboarding is.”
It was a lucky day for USA with Anderson’s medal being the second gold in two days for the team. 20 year-old Sage Kotsenburg triumphed in men’s slopestyle.
