Want Leftover Food? There’s An App For That

Smart phone apps have made day-to-day life a whole lot easier. Need a seat at the movie theater? There’s an app for that. Need a ride there? There’s an app for that too. Want to find your way home? There’s also an app for that!

Want to eat someone else’s leftovers? Well, now there’s LeftoverSwap.

LeftoverSwap, created by Dan Newman and Bryan Summersett, is as straightforward as the name implies. There are two types of users: Those wanting leftovers and those who want to get rid of their food.

It’s free to download, free to use, and has been called “The Craiglist for food.”

Beyond being able to tell Economists that there finally is such a thing as “a free lunch,” this app completely grosses me out. Honestly, how cheap do you have to be to eat other people’s leftover food?

If anything, LeftoverSwap should be a non-profit donation service, not a way for overly thrifty foodies to easily trade their leftover braised pork loin with someone else’s’ balsamic infused stuffed Alaskan snow crabs.
