Kobe Watch: Will Kobe Make His Debut Friday Against The Sacramento Kings?

Kobe Bryant continues his progress in practice towards a Friday return, including this breakaway dunk Tuesday. Lakers’ comments to media in practice were that Kobe looked “really good.” The question will be whether he’s in a good enough recovery position on Thursday to make his season debut Friday. It’s just a dunk in practice, and he didn’t get up high or anything, but he did swoop in and scoop up that loose ball with Mamba-like intensity. The question of his return Friday is still very much in doubt but there’s also no question he’s close. By all indications, barring a setback, Kobe Bryant will be back on the court for the Lakers within the next two weeks. Bryant is hoping to also practice Wednesday and Thursday. If he feels fine, he’ll be on target to make his season debut Friday at Sacramento. “Today was a good day,” D’Antoni said. “We’ll see [Wednesday] how he reacts and everything but [Tuesday] was a big step forward. He played hard, played for about half-hour, 45 minutes, did everything…. I didn’t see anything he couldn’t do.” Bryant scrimmaged with Pau Gasol, Jordan Hill, Wesley Johnson and Steve Blake, who said he felt OK despite being bothered recently by a hyperextended right elbow.
