Mariska Hargitay Speaks Out With Her Joyful Heart

Mariska Hargitay, the Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award-winning actress who stars as Olivia Benson on NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, will speak at a National Press Club Speakers Luncheon on March 13. She will discuss how her role inspired her to become an advocate for survivors of violence and abuse by creating the Joyful Heart Foundation. Joyful Heart’s mission is to heal, educate and empower survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse.  She will also talk about NO MORE Day of Action and the NO MORE movement that has been developed to increase public visibility of the issues of domestic violence and sexual assault.  Hargitay will also speak of her organization’s work to end the backlog of untested rape kits in the United States, including the Foundation’s work in support of the City of Detroit.

The Press Club Luncheon will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m.  Tickets cost $21 for Press Club members (NPC Members may purchase 2 tickets at this rate) and $35 for all other non-member tickets.
