It was to be expected! It’s official, Daily Variety, the “bible of showbiz” will not be published daily. The trade publication was sold last year to Jay Penske for only $25 million. Daily Variety is following in the footsteps of Hollywood Reporter. The news will be online and a magazine will be printed once a week. Starting March 1st, Variety readers can look forward to the debut of a paywall-free website.
Perhaps digital magazines will now start receiving the proper attention and respect from Film and TV studios, as well as record companies.
