Obama Says “Agreement Within Sight”

“They are close, but they’re not there yet,” President Obama said at a last minute press conference called on the afternoon of New Year’s Eve. Unfortunately, no decision has been made regarding the fiscal cliff. He says there is an “agreement within sight. We’re hopeful that Congress can get it done.” Obama wants to emphasize the importance of coming to a resolution without raising taxes on middle class Americans.

The potential agreement on the table would make sure taxes don’t go up on middle class families, extend tuition tax credit, extend unemployment insurance, etc. “We will still have work to do —Keep the pressure on — let’s see if we can get this done” Obama ended on a hopeful note.
