Play In the Snow In Big Bear This Holiday Season

Families that plan to visit Big Bear Lake this Thanksgiving holiday will be thankful to know Big Bear Snow Play has laid down plenty of white stuff for a memorable family outing. Today, Big Bear Snow Play reported that its snow-covered tubing hill has a snow base of one to two feet. Big Bear Snow Play's ski-resort quality, snowmaking fan guns are expected to fire up again tonight, and will continue at every opportunity to build on its base. Ideal snowmaking conditions with cold temperatures and low humidity are anticipated to remain consistent all week.

Big Bear Snow Play is now open for the 2021-2022 winter season. At the time of this press release, Big Bear Snow Play is the only place in Southern California that has snow, which comes just in time for Thanksgiving weekend.

"We're fully prepared to provide families with lots of snow for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday," said Big Bear Snow Play General Manager Kim Voigt. "What better way to burn off a big turkey dinner than sliding down snow-covered hills with the kiddos?"

In addition to all of the great daytime fun, Big Bear Snow Play lights up after dark with a unique snow play experience called glow tubing. The popular glow tubing starts Friday, November 26, and will be open every Friday, Saturday, and holiday nights from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. throughout the winter season. The spectrum of colors that glow tubing provides adds a whole different dimension to the fun.

"We light up the tubing hills with a variety of different colored lights, making it look like a festival of lights," added Voigt.

Big Bear Snow Play's snowmaking system ensures there is always snow for inner-tubing thrill seekers. It also grooms its runs each night to provide ideal sliding conditions for the following day. As winter continues, both Mother Nature and Big Bear Snow Play will cover the snow-tubing park with more of the white stuff, which will eventually stack up to 15 to 20 feet of snow.

Big Bear Snow Play makes it easy to get to the top of the hill too, with its Magic Carpet ride. The moving conveyor belt eliminates the stress of climbing the hill and provides more opportunity to have fun on the slopes. For added comfort, the Magic Carpet ride comes equipped with a Plexiglass cover to shield guests from winter-weather conditions. When it's time for a winter warm-up, head to the heated base lodge for a family-priced snack bar.

Another activity on site is Big Bear Ropes Course. It's an invigorating aerial adventure that will have both kids and parents balancing on ropes, crossing bridges ad climbing through 37 different obstacles, spread over 6,400 sq. feet on two levels. This great family adventure is open all year 'round.

Big Bear Snow Play is open daily for snow tubing from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Glow tubing starts Friday, November 26, and will be open every Friday, Saturday, and holiday nights from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Snow tubing participants must be at least 36" tall. Snow Tubing passes, which includes tube rental and Magic Carpet lift are $40; a child's ticket (36" to 42" in height) is $25. Parking is free, and guests are free to come and go as they please. Big Bear Ropes Course is $12 per person, and participants that are 42" to 48" in height must be accompanied by a paid adult, 18 years or older. Big Bear Snow Play is located at 42825 Big Bear Blvd. (three miles east of Big Bear Village, next to Motel 6). For more information call 909-585-0075 or visit www.BigBearSnowPlay.com.
