FRIDAY 4/5
Where: Roxy Theatre
Anyone who’s a fan of American alternative rock has a soft spot for Soul Asylum. Their massive hit “Runaway Train” became a beacon of success for all other crossover hopefuls. With a slew of platinum and triple-platinum records and a Grammy award, this group has truly become a symbol of what it means to make it as an alternative band. Now they’re on tour in support of their latest album, “Delayed Reaction,” that came out last summer. This is definitely a show that fans of alternative music will definitely want to be at.
SUNDAY 4/7
Where: The Canyon (Agoura Hills, CA)
In 2000, Nick Carter’s younger brother, Aaron, released the song “Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)” and instantly became the obsession of young girls everywhere. Selling more than 1.5 million copies of the single, Aaron went one to crank out more hits and win the hearts of millions of fans. After taking a musical respite, Aaron is coming back into the music world, much to the delight of his admirers that have been patiently waiting for his return. Sunday, he’s bringing his current tunes (and hopefully a few classics) to the Canyon in Agoura Hills. You won’t want to miss this awesome resurrection of pop power.
MONDAY 4/8
Where: Staples Center
Ok, technically Monday isn’t part of the weekend, but this event was just too important to leave out. International phenom, Rihanna, is bringing her Diamonds World Tour to Los Angeles this week for a huge performance at Downtown’s Staples Center. With seven Grammys under her belt and 12 number one hits to keep them company, it’s no wonder that this show is already sold out. Since she hit the scene in 2005, it was nearly impossible to turn on the radio and not hear one of Rihanna’s tracks. Now one of the best selling-artists of all time, this stadium show is destined to be one of the great ones this year. Make sure you find a way to get your hands on some tickets.
