The Force Is Still With Carrie Fisher

Look out, teenage boys from the 1970’s- Princess Leia is back! In an interview with Palm Beach Illustrated, Carrie Fisher confirmed that she would be reprising her iconic role in Star Wars VII. The film, dated to release in 2015, will feature the legendary princess, but don’t expect any gold bikinis. When asked about what her character would be like now, Fisher wryly responded that she’s, “Elderly. She’s in an intergalactic old folks’ home… I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle.” She then joked about donning her signature look saying that of course the Princess would wear the bagel buns and the bikinibecause, “probably she has sundowners syndrome. At sundown, she thinks that she’s 20-something. And she puts it on and gets institutionalized.”

The character has become such a cultural icon that it doesn’t really matter what she does in the movie as long as she’s in it. Any reunion directed by J.J. Abrams that features Fisher, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford will be a success before it even hits theatres (though, to be fair, Hamill and Ford’s returns are still just rumors).
