In the early 2000’s emo music began to creep into the airwaves with trailblazers like Dashboard Confessional and Jimmy Eat World leading the way. Along with those groups, The Used became one of the pioneers in the genre. Blending emo lyrics with alternative rock influences, The Used has gained gold and platinum statues in six different countries while putting out five studio albums. This Friday they’ll be at The Wiltern as part of their 2013 “Take Action Tour.”
Where: Staples Center
Famous for his lyrical aptitude, the British musician, Morrissey (formerly of The Smiths) is headed to L.A.’s Staples Center. Widely heralded as an innovated in both the pop and rock indie worlds, the singer-songwriter has made a name for himself as argumentative, difficult, and altogether revolutionary. With decades of experience behind him, this is definitely a show you don’t want to miss.

The past couple years have ushered in a new music era filled with electro beats and thumping bass tracks. At the forefront of this musical insurgency is Tiesto, the Dutch DJ behind songs such as “Close To You.” Commonly placed in the highest ranks of current top 10 DJs, this show promises to be the EDM lover’s dream.

Where: Citizens Bank (Ontario, CA)
Born in 1983, the 29-year-old Carrie Underwood has been singing since she was just a child in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Now a world wide name, the singer gained international recognition when she was crowned American Idol’s Season 4 winner. Since then she has gone on to snag six Grammy Awards, eleven CMAs and even a Golden Globe nomination. The country music dominator is headed to Ontario’s Citizens Bank arena this Sunday. This is definitely worth the long drive for fans of her country-pop mix. For those that don’t feel like making the trek, you’re in luck. The entire concert is being broadcast live through AXS TV, essentially making your couch the front row.
