Rose Parade: And The Trophy Goes To…

The chilly 50-degree weather didn’t keep away the massive crowd of more than 700,000 people at Tuesday’s Rose Parade. The sunny day was just as beautiful as the long line of floats that marched down the Pasadena streets flanked by equestrians, bands, and cheerleaders. Though all the floats’ designs were truly magnificent, only 23 walked away with a trophy.

Some of the award winners included:

Judges’ Special Trophy for outstanding showmanship and dramatic impact: Shriners Hospitals For Children: “Helping Children Live Their Dreams”

Lathrop K. Leishman Trophy for most beautiful entry from a noncommercial sponsor: Beverly Hills Pet Care Foundation: “Follow The Stars — Adopt A Pet!”

National Trophy for best depiction of life in the United States, past present or future: Department of Defense 60th Anniversary of the Korean War Commemorative Committee: “Freedom Is Not Free”

Animation Trophy for best animation and motion: La Cañada Flintridge Tournament of Roses Assn.: “Dino-Soar”

Theme Trophy for best presentation of the Rose Parade theme: Kaiser Permanente: “Oh, The Healthy Things You Can Do!”
