The Penguin Hair Designer Brian Badie To Be Honored At Hollywood Beauty Awards

The annual Hollywood Beauty Awards (HBAs) will celebrate a decade of honoring the architects of beauty at the 10th HBAs on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Avalon Hollywood. 

The HBAs recognize talent in hair, makeup, photography and styling for Film, TV, Music, the red carpet and editorial, as well as special honorees. 

Today, the HBAs announced that primetime Emmy-nominee Brian Badie will be honored with Outstanding Achievement in Hairstyling at the 10th ceremony. 

Camille Friend, Carla Farmer, Lawrence Davis and more are among the former HBA Hairstyling honorees. 

HBAs previously announced Academy Award winner Janty Yates as the Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design honoree, Davis Factor for Outstanding Achievement in Photography, Academy Award nominee Mike Marino for Outstanding Achievement in SFX Makeup, and 4x Emmy nominee Debi Young for Outstanding Achievement in Makeup.

With a career spanning blockbuster films and critically acclaimed television series, Brian Badie has become one of Hollywood’s most sought-after hair designers. Badie received an Emmy nomination in 2019 for his hairstyling on the third season of HBO’s True Detective, starring Mahershala Ali. His extensive resume includes Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody, Fences, Queen & Slim, Girls Trip, American Gangster, White Boy Rick and I Am Legend.

Badie has shaped iconic looks for shows such as Lovecraft Country, Law & Order: SVU, Power, The Changeling, and Our Flag Means Death. Expanding his influence, he also took on a producing role for Power Book II: Ghost and Power Book IV: Force, where he continued to innovate with his signature hairstyling.

Born and raised in New Orleans, Badie launched his career under the mentorship of legendary hairstylist Robert Louis Stevenson, making his industry debut on the feature film Eve’s Bayou

More recently, Badie received a 2025 NAACP Image Award nomination, as well as a Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Award nomination for The Penguin, HBO’s The Batman spinoff. His upcoming work includes Him, a Monkeypaw Productions film is set for release in 2025.

Nominee voting will open to the public on Monday, February 10th until Monday, March 3rd, 2025. 

Christopher Guy is the official designer of the HBAs Holly statuette.
