In the early morning hours after Election Day, Donald J. Trump was confirmed the President-elect of the United States, according to Associated Press results.
Surpassing the 270 electoral votes needed to secure the presidency, President Trump received 277 counts over current VP Kamala Harris’ 224; making Trump the 47th leader of the country. It was the Republican candidate’s win in Wisconsin that put him over the 270 threshold needed to win the presidency. J.D. Vance will serve as Vice President.
In an incredible comeback, Trump won over key battleground states, including North Carolina, Georgia and Pennsylvania.
Trump previously served as the 45th president of the United States from 2017 to 2021.
“I will fight for you, for your family and your future… with every breath in my body. I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that you deserve,” Trump said in his victory speech.
Vice President-elect J.D. Vance called the victory “the greatest political comeback in the history of the United States of America.”
