The Los Angeles Dodgers won their eighth World Series championship in franchise history.
They defeated the New York Yankees on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium with a final score of 7-6.
Dodger first baseman Freddie Freeman was voted the unanimous World Series MVP after hitting .300 (6-for-20) with four home runs, including the dramatic 10th-inning walk-off grand slam to give Los Angeles the victory in Game 1 at Dodger Stadium.
The 2024 title is the club’s seventh since moving to Los Angeles and their first five-game World Series win since 1988 over Oakland. The final out of the game was recorded when surprise Dodger reliever Walker Buehler struck out Alex Verdugo to win it.
The World Series Champions will commemorate their title on Friday, November 1 with a parade in Downtown Los Angeles and a special ticketed celebration at Dodger Stadium, both of which will be televised in their entirety on Spectrum SportsNet LA, local television channels and AM 570.
Due to logistics, traffic and timing, fans will not be able to attend both events.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and local leaders today outlined coordinated support efforts for Friday’s Dodgers Championship Parade. The City is committed to supporting the Dodgers in delivering a celebration befitting the championship team, its dedicated fans and our proud city.
“Last week, I stood with City leaders to say that L.A. is ready – ready to host the World Series, ready to welcome visitors from near and far and, most importantly, ready to win. Now, we are ready to celebrate,” said Mayor Bass. “As I said last night, violence and dangerous behavior at the expense of our communities and businesses will not be tolerated. I urge you to continue to celebrate responsibly and safely if you are planning to attend the Dodgers’ celebration opportunities tomorrow. Congratulations again to the Dodgers – we cannot wait to welcome you back and celebrate with you tomorrow!”
The next update will be via press release on Friday.
