Celebrate Día de los Muertos at Forest Lawn Locations

On Wednesday, October 23, Forest Lawn Museum is celebrating the openings of the Narcissus Quagliata and Hraytcha Hayents exhibitions with a public opening reception from 5:00-7:00 PM.

With Quagliata’s groundbreaking glass works installed alongside Forest Lawn Museum’s rarely-seen Albrecht Dürer stained glass windows and Hayent’s sweeping abstractions of the Armenian-American experience, the exhibitions are set to be powerful and profound, blending history with contemporary art.

On Sunday, October 27, Forest Lawn will bring traditional Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) customs to life with free, family-friendly events from 12:00-3:00 PM at their Cypress, Covina Hills, and Glendale locations (with Covina Hills being the largest event, the art exhibitions on view during Glendale’s event, and another event at Forest Lawn-Cathedral City on Saturday, November 2, from 2:00-3:00 PM).

The traditional community celebrations will honor the honor the memories of the dead while illuminating the rich history of the Mexican holiday with vibrant altars, larger-than-life Catrinas and alebrijes (spirit guides), folkloric dance and Mariachi performances, arts & crafts, face painting, and refreshments.
