Just days after an assassination attempt at former President Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania, the Republican candidate has unveiled his choice for Vice President to run alongside him.
Trump said on his social platform, Truth Social Network: “After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator JD Vance of the Great State of Ohio.”
J.D. Vance. Who is he and what do we know about him?
The 39 year-old United States Senator of Ohio was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2022 and sworn into office on January 3rd, 2023.
JD was born and raised in Middletown, Ohio. His official “About JD” on his website says that his grandmother, called Mamaw, was his saving grace.
“Her tough love and discipline kept him on the straight and narrow. A “blue dog” Democrat, she owned 19 handguns and nurtured a deep Christian faith in herself and her family.”
The Republican Senator enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and went on to serve in the Iraq War.
He then graduated from The Ohio State University and Yale Law School. JD is the author of a bestselling book, Hillbilly Elegy, which was turned into a Netflix movie. He also started a business which is said to be dedicated to growing jobs and opportunity in the American heartland.
