Suzanne Somers who was perhaps best known for starring on hit TV series “Three’s Company” and “She’s the Sheriff,” has died at 76.
According to Somers’ longtime publicist, R. Couri Hay, she “survived an aggressive form” of breast cancer for over 23 years.
“[She] passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours on Sunday,” the statement read. “Suzanne was surrounded by her loving husband Alan, her son Bruce, and her immediate family,” the statement continued.
“Her family was gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday on Oct. 16th. Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life, and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly.”
In a multifaceted career that spanned more than three decades, she achieved extraordinary success as an actress, singer, comedienne, New York Times bestselling author, Las Vegas Entertainer of the Year, entrepreneur, and lecturer.
Somers appeared in the television role of Chrissy Snow on “Three’s Company” and as Carol Foster Lambert on “Step by Step.” Somers later became the author of a series of self-help books, including Ageless: The Naked Truth About Bioidentical Hormones (2006), about bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.
She released two autobiographies, four diet books, and a book of poetry.
She became a voice and face of alternative medicine and received an Emmy nomination as Outstanding Host for “The SUZANNE Show,” her former weekly Lifetime Network talk show.
