The NBA announced today that Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James was named to the 2022-23 All-NBA Third Team. It is the 19th consecutive All-NBA honor of James’ career, extending the record for all-time most selections in league history, and his fifth overall as a Laker.
During the 2022-23 regular season, James averaged 28.9 points (.500 FG%), 8.3 rebounds and 6.8 assists in 55 games (54 starts), extending his NBA-record of 19 consecutive campaigns averaging 25+ points. James led the NBA in fastbreak points per game (6.2) and ranked sixth in points in the paint per contest (15.1). In his 20th NBA campaign, James recorded 18 double-doubles and two triple-doubles and was twice named Western Conference Player of the Week
The 19-time NBA All-Star became the NBA’s all-time leading scorer on Feb. 7 versus Oklahoma City and extended his league-record double-digit scoring streak to 1,151 games. James scored 20+ points in 48 games this season, including 25 games with 30+ points and five games scoring at least 40. The 38-year-old moved into fourth place on the NBA’s all-time assists list (10,420), ninth place on the league’s all-time steals chart (2,186) and became the all-time leader in 20-point games registered (1,179). James is the only player in NBA history to be in the top five all-time in both points and assists.
The All-NBA Teams were selected by a global panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. The media voted for All-NBA First, Second and Third Teams by position with points awarded on a 5-3-1 basis. Voters selected two guards, two forwards and one center for each team, choosing players at the position they play regularly. Players who received votes at multiple positions were slotted at the position where they received the most votes.
