Today marks the fifteen year anniversary of Princess Diana‘s tragic death. On August 31st, 1997, the iconic Princess and mother to Prince Harry and Prince William, died along with her friend, Dodi Al-Fayed in a car accident when their Mercedes plowed into a pillar in the Alma Tunnel. The French Police reported that driver Henri Paul, who was also killed, had been drinking heavily and was speeding.
People have traveled from all around the world to pay tribute to the beloved Princess at the crash site in Paris; leaving flowers and notes. In the UK hundreds of visitors are expected to commemorate the anniversary of her death by paying their respects at her former home, Kensington Palace.
