If there is any time to cook with more butter than usual, today would be the day. In honor and celebration of the famous culinary personality and lover of butter, Julia Child, who would have turned 100 years old on August 15th, 2012. The vivacious chef’s success is testament to the saying,“You can do anything if you set your mind to it.” Child did not start cooking until she was 32, when she joined the women’s cooking club Cercle des Gourmettes in Paris. She is recognized for introducing French cuisine to the American public through her cookbook, “Mastering the Art of French Cooking,” as well as her television programs; the most notable one being “The French Chef,” which premiered in 1963 and aired on PBS until 1973. As a tribute to Child, PBS Digital has released a special Julia Child remix video called “Keep on Cooking.” Enjoy the video and, as Julia would say…
“Learn how to cook… try new recipes, learn from your mistakes, be fearless and above all have fun.”
