The 7th annual Hollywood Beauty Awards (HBAs), founded by CEO Michele Elyzabeth, took place on Saturday, March 19 at the Taglyan Complex in Los Angeles. The HBAs honor the architects of beauty, recognizing talent in hair, makeup, photography and styling for film, TV, music, the red carpet and editorial.

Makeup artist, Alexx Mayo, known for his work with Lizzo was nominated for The Norma Patton-Lowin Makeup Award alongside nominees: Latrice Johnson, who works with Regina King and Rokael Lizama, who works regularly with Beyonce.

2019 Makeup winner Yolonda Frederick-Thompson presented with actress Angelica Ross and announced the winner. Upon opening the envelope and announcing “Alexx Mayo,” hit recording artist Lizzo popped up on stage to surprise Alexx while her song played.
