Turner Classic Movies’ Host Robert Osborne Dies At 84

Many knew him as the film aficionado and host of Turner Classic Movies. Robert Osborne haspassed away at the age of 84.

A statement from Jennifer Dorian, general manager of Turner Classic Movies said, "All of us at Turner Classic Movies are deeply saddened by the death of Robert Osborne. He joined us as an expert on classic film and grew to be our cherished colleague and esteemed ambassador for TCM."
 
Osborne first started hosting for TCM in April 1994 during the program's debut.
 
TCM's official Facebook Page read: Today we say good-bye to a dear member of our TCM family. Robert Osborne inspired us, befriended us and supported us for more than 20 years. We’ll miss him every day. Our thoughts are with all who love Robert, as we do.
 
An actor early on in his career, Osborne appeared in classic shows such as "The Beverly Hillbillies." He went on to write the official history of the Academy Awards, originally published in 1988, and most recently updated in 2013.
