Dolly Parton and Jane Fonda will have the supreme pleasure of honoring their friend Lily Tomlin with the Screen Actor's Guild Lifetime Achievement Award. Tomlin is an actress, comedian, writer, producer, and all-around entertainment maverick.
The trio met during the filming of the feminist comedy 9 to 5. Tomlin and Fonda were already close before shooting the film, which was Parton's debut cinematic role. Their chemistry was palpable from day one, and the movie became an instant hit.
Parton, Fonda, and Tomlin are hugely successful in their respective fields. Parton is a country music icon with a mountain of awards and accolades. Tomlin and Fonda are currently working together in the hit Netflix series Grace and Frankie. Both have been hailed for their terrific work on the show.
The 23rd annual Screen Actor's Guild Awards will broadcast live on TNT and TBS on Sunday January 29 at 8pm EST.
