If you are interested in plastic surgery as I am, and if you live in Hollywood or closely follow beauty related stories, chances are you have heard of or read the name: Dr. Paul Nassif. The world-renowned plastic and reconstructive facial surgeon has been praised by his patients for providing the “most natural looking rhinoplasty surgeries”. He is also recognized as a revision rhinoplasty specialist whose work has been featured on Botched!, the reality show on E! that follows Dr. Nassif and Dr. Terry Dubrow while they are repairing the most poorly done plastic surgeries.
Adding to his first specialty, he has had great success with his “aging face Endoscopic Surgery.”
Dr. Nassif developed “The Anti-Gravity Facelift,” which leaves no visible scars. Fascinated by people who dedicate their lives to make others beautiful, I seized the opportunity to speak to Dr. Nassif about his new venture. We sat down in his Beverly Hills office to chat about the products and how it all came about.
Already with a lot on your plate, why did you decide to launch a skincare line?
It’s interesting. When I was married to Adrienne (Maloof), we were working on a skincare line. Adrienne and I used to always test new skincare products. And this was something that I wanted to do, probably, for the last decade. Then, about three years ago — as I was operating on the deeper tissue; lifting up and tightening skin — doing facelifts, I realized that I didn’t work on wrinkles. At that point, I decided it was time for me to start focusing on my skincare line. Because I worked on the inside, I need to work on the outside, as well. So I went to a lab, sat down with my chemist and we went through a variety of different types of enzymes, proteins, peptides, chemical products and antioxidants that do different things. We slowly put things together that worked in synergy and came up with a bio-rhythmic skincare line.
What is a bio-rhythmic skincare line?
Based on a 24-hour cycle, circadian rhythm, from blood flow, hormones, temperature —everything fluctuates. During the day, you’re in more of a protective mode. Your body is protecting you from the toxins and oxidation. Therefore, we wanted to have something that protected the skin.
At night, we wanted to repair the skin while you are sleeping. Because you really need about 78 hours to repair your skin while you sleep, we wanted to find something that would assist in case you did not have that luxury. It is essential for people who are always on the run, really busy and barely sleeping. Continuing our research, we discovered enzymes that actually work in two hours. And that’s how we created “Bio-Rhythmic Skincare” It actually changes our skin experiences during the day versus the night, while also rapidly counteracting the negative effects, such as the lack of sleep and busy lifestyles.
Our collagen becomes damaged when aging or smoking; our skin becomes dehydrated with sun exposure, toxins in the environment. We need better protection. Chemists came to the realization that “high-energy visible light” found in high-frequency light, as well as in the photo aging category of an ultraviolet, have very negative effects. In that wavelength, they also found something called LipoShield, which is one of the ingredients used in our serum and helps protect against free radicals.
How many products have you developed so far?
We have three products: CLOCK AM, CLOCK PM and DAWN TO DUSK.
Dawn To Dusk Exfoliating Cleaner; is the perfect start to our skincare system. The jojoba and ivory palm seed spheres instantly rid the skin of dead cells and surface impurities, revealing a glowing and radiant skin that’s primed for intense nourishment and treatment.
