Imagine a Burger King Whopper and a McDonald’s Big Mac marriage. Sounds delicious right? Now wipe that image from your mind, because it’s not going to happen.
Burger King suggested a peace offering on the appropriate holiday: International Day of Peace, proposing that the two fast food empires join forces to create the “McWhopper.”
BK put out a full-page newspaper for the potential collaboration. They would serve the hybrid burger for one day at a pop-up location in Atlanta.
Well, McDonald’s was quick to respond, and essentially reject: On their Facebook page, McDonald’s CEO Steve Easterbrook said the proposal was inspiration for a good cause. But then they added:
“Let’s acknowledge that between us there is simply a friendly business competition and certainly not the unequaled circumstances of the real pain and suffering of war.”
“P.S. A simple phone call will do next time.”
Sorry fast food lovers, this marriage probably isn’t going to happen.
