The organization, in partnership with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, opened its first telemedicine center in Puerto Rico in 2010 and seven new centers in Panama since. Additionally, Lopez has a longstanding and supportive relationship with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. As a young teen, Lopez was an early member of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club’s Performing Arts Program where she honed her performance skills. She now serves as a National Spokesperson for the organization alongside Denzel Washington.
Maryah Sullivan, age 19, of Orlando, Florida, was nominated by Boys & Girls Clubs of America and is that organization’s 2014-15 National Youth of the Year. She is a dedicated community servant in Central Florida and volunteers at the Ronald McDonald house and a local nursing home.
Ten year-old Sloan Peterson, Los Angeles, California, was nominated by Free The Children for establishing a chapter at her school where she has led several fundraising and volunteering efforts for both local and global issues she is passionate about, including access to clean water.
