The Spurs are the champions of the 2014 NBA Finals after beating the Miami Heat with a 104-87 score on Sunday night. It was Game 5 of the best-of-seven series at the AT&T Center in San Antonio. While the Miami Heat have been to the NBA Finals for four consecutive years, the Spurs are bringing home their fifth NBA championship trophy.

As for the most valuable player, San Antonio’s forward Kawhi Leonard is this year’s MVP. Not quite 23 years-old, Leonard earned 22 points and 10 rebounds. This is his third NBA season.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced Leonard as the MVP alongside his teammates and Spurs coach Gregg Popovich.

“Right now, it’s just surreal to me,” Leonard said. “I had a great group of guys behind me, just pushing me and wanting me to be aggresive in the game… Coach Pop pushed me, the fans pushed me,” After his team knocked off the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals, Coach Popovich said, “He’s the future of the Spurs…”

Leonard is the youngest Finals MVP since 1999.
